Sussex Institute of Artificial Intelligence Zhejiang Gongshang University is a Sino-foreign cooperative educational institution approved by the Ministry of Education. It is the first Sino-foreign cooperative institute of artificial intelligence in China, with collaboration between the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom and Zhejiang Gongshang University in China. The institute is located on the picturesque campus of Zhejiang Gongshang University in Qiantang District, Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province.

Zhejiang Gongshang University is a high-level university with a distinctive focus on the coordinated development of disciplines such as economics, management, law, and engineering. Its predecessor, Hangzhou Commercial School, was founded in 1911 and was one of the earliest specialized commercial schools in China. In 1980, it was approved by the State Council to establish Hangzhou Business College, which was renamed Zhejiang Gongshang University in 2004 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2015, the university was designated as a university jointly built by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Education. In 2016, it was approved as one of the first batch of "Zhejiang Province Chara cteristic Internationalized Universities." In 2017, the university was designated as a key construction university in Zhejiang Province.
